About Us

Ability Metrics LLC is a measurement‑science company dedicated to building rigorous, theory‑based tools for health and social science practice. Our work centers on modern measurement principles—Rasch measurement theory, item response theory (IRT), and the development of clinically meaningful metrics that support real‑world decision making.

We are a team of measurement theorists, senior scientists, and expert clinicians with decades of combined experience in pediatric rehabilitation, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and applied measurement research. Our leadership includes a senior scientist with over 30 years of experience advancing measurement in health and social sciences, with a research portfolio spanning patient‑reported outcomes, clinician observational measures, and computerized adaptive testing.

Our clinical founders bring deep expertise as doctoral‑trained occupational and physical therapists who have spent their careers evaluating functional performance, cognitive activity, and developmental progress. Together, we integrate clinical insight with measurement theory to produce tools that are scientifically defensible, clinically intuitive, and scalable across settings.

Ability Metrics LLC develops and stewards measurement systems such as the Gross Motor Unit (GMU) Analyzer, designed to deliver precise, invariant, and interpretable scores that support clinicians, researchers, and service systems. Our mission is to make high‑quality measurement accessible, transparent, and aligned with the scientific standards required for meaningful human assessment.

We believe that measurement is foundational to progress in health and social sciences and that better metrics lead to better decisions, better communication, and better outcomes.
